Alexandra Stan to Play The George

 

Eurodance sensation, Alexandra Stan will encourage dance fans to ‘move like a freak’ when she performs live on stage at The George bar and nightclub on Friday 30th September.

 

Fans can expect a high energy performance, as Alexandra will perform a number of her hits include 2011 smash hit ‘Mr. Saxobeat’, her debut single ‘Lollipop’ and her latest single ‘Get Back’.

 

A 2011 dance floor filler and the most viewed video on You Tube on the week of its release, Mr. Saxobeat, is Alexandra’s biggest success in Ireland. An up-tempo dance song with house elements, the song features a saxophone throughout and uses some trace beats. Survey Reveals A Nation Of ‘Karaoke Kings And Queens’

 

‘Don’t Stop Believing’ Because 85% of Irish People Love Karaoke on A Night Out

 

A survey conducted by The George Bar and Nightclub to celebrate SaturGays the brand new Saturday night entertainment karaoke and beauty makeover themed night at The George reveals that the Irish nation are a nation of ‘Karaoke Kings and Queens’ with 85% of  respondents admitting they love to partake in karaoke on a night out. Of the 400 people surveyed Journey and Glee TV series hit ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ was the top karaoke song with 30%, while ‘I Will Always Love You’ by pop diva Whitney Houston was the least popular karaoke song receiving only 7% of the vote.

 

When asked what their favourite Irish karaoke song was, The Pogues Christmas classic ‘Fairy Tale of New York’, topped the poll with 33%, while in a surprise find Irish Rock Legends U2’s ‘Beautiful Day’ was the least favourite with 5.6% of the vote. Pop music was the favourite genre of music to belt out on stage with 79% of the vote, while traditional Irish music was respondents’ least favourite genre of music receiving only 5% of the vote.

 

When asked to name which celebrity they would most like to duet with, there was one clear winner for respondents with pop superstar Lady Gaga receiving 35% of the vote, Canadian crooner Michael Buble came in second with 20% of the vote. Britain’s Got Talent runner up and YouTube sensation Susan Boyle was respondents least favourite duet partner only receiving 3% of the vote.

 

Commenting on the recent survey, George Manager, Darragh Flynn said, “We are delighted to see that the Irish are a nation of ‘Karaoke Kings and Queens’. We would encourage karaoke lovers to get down to The George on Saturday nights for their chance to stretch their vocal cords and get a free five minute makeover. SaturGays is the only pop party in town were karaoke meets beauty masterclasses!”

 

The Survey also revealed that Irish people take part in karaoke sessions at least a couple of times a year (30%) and that they are most likely to take to the stage on a night out with friends (56%). When asked if they liked to sing solo or in a group, (42%) are brave enough to sing solo and (35%) liked to sing in the comfort of a group.

 

SaturGays is a non stop pop party which includes Beauty Spot Karaoke hosted by drag queens Veda and Davina and takes over The George each Saturday night from 10.00pm. During the show karaoke participants can avail of a five minute makeover service. After the show DJ Anto, Veda and Davina take to the decks for the hottest pop party in town.

Live Performance At The George

 

 

On Monday, 15th November X Factor fans are in for a treat as girl group, Belle Amie, performs live on stage in The Queen of Gay Bars The George.

 

Hot from the X Factor competition the four girls, Esther Campbell, Sophia Wardman, Geneva Lane and Dublin girl Rebecca Creighton, who entered ‘X Factor’ as solo artists but were given a second chance in the final stages of Bootcamp when they were put together as a group, will perform on The George stage, which has been graced by the presence of past X Factor contestants, Alexandra Burke and Danyl Johnston.

 

Commenting on the forthcoming performance, Darragh Flynn, The George Manager, said, ‘We are really excited to welcome Belle Amie to the George. The George is Ireland’s premier gay venue and we always strive to bring our customers the most up to date music acts to perform live on our stage.”

 

Belle Amie will perform at The George on Monday 15th November, tickets are priced at  €5.00 and are available from The George from Monday 8th November or guests can purchase tickets on the night*,doors open at 9.00pm.

The Sounds of The Supremes™ led by 70’s and 80’s ‘Supreme’ Kaaren Ragland will perform live on stage at the Queen of Irish Gay Bars, The George on Friday 5th November.

 

For one night only, South Great George’s Street will be alive with the sounds of Motown as the band perform classic hits from the ‘Supremes’ including,  ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’, ‘Baby Love’, ‘Love Child’, ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’, and of course, ‘Stop! In The Name of Love’. 

 

Since 1989 The Sounds of The Supremes™ (the only group of their type legally endorsed by Motown) led by Kaaren Ragland, a former member of original Supreme Mary Wilson’s 70s/80s group have achieved a remarkable degree of worldwide success, appearing in over 50 countries. Kaaren and her group which also includes Kathy Merrick and Althea Burkhalter, posses a wealth of vocal talent and range, which ensures the sounds of Motown, live on.
